Loopdeloop

LoopDeLoop is a monthly animation challenge which began in Melbourne. The aim is to create a looping animation based on the monthly theme. At the end of the month a screening is held at Loop bar and the audience votes on the winner.

Myth

Throwing a coin from the top of a building can kill someone.

This one was a lot of fun, I experimented with a lot of new techniques and wanted focus on creating a piece with which included a homage to iconic Anime fight/sword scenes, and I also wanted to experiment with Cinema 4D’s sketch & Toon plus Cel Shader render options. I also made use of Adobe’s Mixamo Mocap data for the first time too.

Bugs

My submission to this months Loopdeloop animation challenge, Bugs! I shot this footage in Iceland while Cycling around for a month then animated and motion tracked these creepy crawly invaders into the shots.

Hollywood

This months Loopdeloop is a collaboration between myself and Caspian from Design By Kai – designbykai.com.au

Caspian and myself decided to recreate famous Hollywood chase scenes in a low polly look with an Isometric camera angle and this is the result.

Caspian tackled the modelling and animation of the Star Wars and Italian Job Scenes, while I worked on the Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park Scenes. Most of the sounds were recorded vocally by Caspian and myself and then mixed and mastered using Ableton Live. We then used After Effects to do some post work and tie it all together.

History

This month’s theme is history, so I decided to show the history of animation from a sketch to a 3D character in a walk cycle loop.

Future

My submission for LoopdeLoop’s monthly animation contest. This months theme is FUTURE.

This month LoopdeLoop is teaming up with Pause Festival which I was actually a part of last year showing off my Instrument Mapping projection mapping piece at Melbourne Central.

This was made with Cineam 4D and AE.

The music track is a part of the Ghost album that Nine Inch Nails released under a CC license.
Also props to my housemate Shane for creating some of the sound effects.

Hallucinations

So while I have been traveling the world I hoped to find some time to work on some animations along the way. But undertaking my project 365: 365.skaremedia.com takes up majority of my spare time on the road.

I did manage to complete another loopdeloop animation while on the many train, ferry and bus trips, and although I had it finished before the due date, the final render took longer than expected so this one wasnt submitted in time unfortunately.

Mad

A Quick piece I whipped up using AE and Cinema 4D to enter in LoopdeLoop’s monthly animation contest. The theme this month is MAD.

This entry is pretty abstract, but to me it fits the theme well. I can imagine this loop driving someone mad if they had to watch it on a loop for hours 😛

Im trying to enter this comp every month and use it to learn some extra Cinema 4D and AE tricks along the way. I used the Deformer and Atom Array tools mostly in Cinema 4D and then used Twitch and a few other effects in AE.

I grabbed a couple of sounds from Soundcloud and added the tone myself in AE.

Sport

This month’s loopdeloop theme is sport. Yes sport.

I have some great ideas for this theme but due to time constraints I don’t know if I will get a chance to explore them, so this one is a real quickie. I pumped this one out in only a couple of days and wanted to explore Cinema 4D’s hard and soft body tags.
